Introduction: DIY Synthetic Dreads: Sealing Method 1

This tutorial follows my first one, DIY Synthetic Dreads: How to Make Solid SE Dreads...
In this instructable, I will teach yous one method of how to seal and finish off those lovely dreadies in order to get them ready to wearable.

(This will teach you how to seal dreads using the straightener method)

Step 1: Materials

This step of dread making is fairly elementary and you don't need that much. Merely stuff yous tin typically notice effectually your house.

Yous volition need a few unlike things for this procedure:

-A expert straightener (i of the older depression heated ones work best...Non the ones that go upwards into the 100's)
-A basin of h2o
-A lightweight wash cloth
-A pair of scissors

Step 2: Twisting

After yous have your dread hooked up, backcombed and ready to go, we can begin twisting.

Twisting is some other important office for the cease result. Be certain when you twist the dread you twist it consistently and in the aforementioned management all the style through (manifestly.) Twist from top to bottom all the way down to the tail finish, but if it's easier while you piece of work, you tin can twist in stages to continue it tighter. (Like in the film, I twist that far and concur information technology while I seal that office and and so move downwards more.)

Step 3: Prepare

This step is every bit piece of cake as could be. Just accept your wet wash cloth and lay it flat over the twisted dread.
Make certain that fabric is squeezed out but non too dry. You need it to be wet plenty and so that when y'all run the straightener over it, it will cause it to steam (and therefore sealing the dread.)

Also, call back to keep the dread twisted equally tight equally possible.

Step iv: Sealing

Now it's time to seal those beautiful dreads.

With the moisture cloth laying over the dread, keep it twisted tight and clamp the straightener lightly over the covered portion of the dread. This will cause it to steam and while yous do this the dread will shrink! Don't worry, that's the bespeak. Every bit information technology shrinks, only twist it tighter.

As yous motility downwards the dread, lay it back and check your progress. The dread should look slightly smaller and much tighter. When you touch it, you should experience that it is most solid. Poofy parts can ever be gone over once again.

*When yous do this be VERY careful with the steam, it is and so so so easy to fire yourself*

Footstep 5: Sealing the Tail

When you get down to the very bottom of the dread, y'all can prepare the wash cloth aside. Take your straightener (on low heat, effectually 30 works,) and clench it quickly on the smaller part. If you lot go out it there for as well long, you lot tin burn directly through the hair and it volition just fall off.
And so carefully clamp the straightener a few times until you experience that the end has been sealed tightly and solid.

When you finish the tail, there will be a footling fluff of pilus off the finish of the dread (picture 2). Only cut that role off up to where you sealed the tip and throw it abroad.

Go on in heed the more sealed the tip is, the better.

*Scout your fingers*

Pace 6: Done!

Your dread is now officially done and ready to habiliment!

There should be a single loop at the top and it should become progressively smaller from peak to bottom.

Expect out for my adjacent tutorial on installing single ended dreads!
Thank you and hope information technology helped :)
